There are many yoga schools around the world. There are also many types of yoga courses such as Yin Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga and Kundalini Yoga.

It took me about six weeks to choose a yoga course, and country. I’m glad I choose AdiYog Peeth in Tapovan, Rishikesh, India. I am more interested in the spiritual aspect of yoga so I choose to do a Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training course instead of Hatha or Ashtanga Yoga.

I was relieved to have a smooth journey to the school after a long journey of three flights. The school organized a driver to picked me up from the airport and took me to the school where I immediately felt like I was part of the family. They brought lemongrass, ginger tea and fruit to my room, and invited me to lunch. The building is new, clean and very safe.

AdiYog Peeth is a very organized and well-managed school. The teachers are young but have been raised in a rich culture of yoga and each one of them have vast knowledge on many topics in the entire yoga practice including ayurvedic-living, cleansing practices, proper alignment, Kundalini Awakening, and so much more.

The opening ceremony was an instant experience into the Indian culture with chanting and a fire ceremony. It was absolutely fascinating!

At each meal we had a choice of a few dishes. I loved the fruit and dahl mostly.

They took us on a few excursions on our day off, Sunday. We went to a waterfalls, beach and ashram. I choose to relax for two of those because the days start at 5.30am and finish at 6.30pm.

AdiYog Peeth puts alot of effort into making the environment a great place to learn yoga.

I’ve heard of other yoga schools that are not as friendly or organized as AdiYog Peeth.

The course curriculum was extensive including, philosophy and covering things such as Patanjali’s 8 limbs of yoga, pranayama and the different breathing for yoga, anatomy, meditation, asanas and chakra cleansing processes. I learned so many things in this course its taking some time to integrate it into my daily practices.

Of course, there are pros and cons for each school, any where you go. What I really liked about being at AdiYog Peeth is that they are well organized with friendly and helpful staff who will even take you to the doctor if you’re feeling sick. They really care like you’re part of the family.

And of course, there could be improvements here or there in the course curriculum, times, food, and testing process…. But overall I’d say this school is probably one of the best in Rishikesh.

I would definitely recommend choosing this school. Students even return for further training a year or more later. It’s just such a friendly vibe.
