Today I went to Sarnath in Varanasi, India.

Gautama Buddha meditated and taught in the area where I am sitting in this picture to the right.

My whole visit I felt quite surreal, meditative and in wonderment. It was actually an entire session of walking and sitting meditation, as the place gives off quite an interesting vibe.

Dhamekh Stupa Sarnath Sarnath is one amongst the four holy places associated with the life of Lord Buddha.

I really enjoyed my visit, but there were not many foreign tourists here this day, and it was difficult finding out where to go without speaking the language. Regardless, it was an amazing experience to be where the Buddha walked and meditated.

This is the place where Buddha, after attaining enlightenment at Bodhgaya, preached his first sermon to five companions.

Sarnath is a place located 10 kilometres north-east of Varanasi near the confluence of the Ganges and the Varuna rivers in Uttar Pradesh, India.

Sarnath is where Gautama Buddha first taught the Dharma.

It was absolutely fascinating to walk, sit and meditate where Gautama Buddha had been. A self-realised, enlightened being walked this land.
